LONDON CALLING
It’s 9:35 pm London time and 1:35 pm California time. I only slept maybe half the time on the ten hour plane ride. Virgin Atlantic has every movie and tv show for David while I listened to all my travel podcasts. Upon arriving at Heathrow we were met by a Monogram host who put us in a van with 3 other American couples. We were first to be dropped off at the Westminister Park Plaza. A very nice 4 star hotel that is centrally located right on London’s south bank.
We took a quick map and shower and headed out to explore. After crossing over the dirty Thames river I decided let’s experience the tube(metro). About $30.00 later and one transfer for 3 stops we emerged all the stuffiness and stairs galore to Convent Garden. David was starving so Wahlburgers was the first place we saw. I can smoke on the restaurant patio!
Next we walked from Convent Garden to Liciester square and found a lot of street entertainers and shopping. Leceister is London’s theater district but of course I found the Hippodrome. There were actually about 5 casinos on our walk. We played $100.00 and lost in the slots but won all but $5.00 back in blackjack. We walked through Trafalgar square and all the way back to the hotel where we collapsed. I am amazed at the amount of people. It’s crazy how the streets are literally packed with so many people.
Of course we couldn’t ho to sleep early on our first night so we walked along the Thames by the commercialized London Eye. Just like the Linq in Lss Vegas. We are now having a small bite to eat sitting outside on the restaurant patio on the river. After we eat I need to go back to the hotel and get some sleep for our first full day of London.
