HEIDELBERG

Oh what a romantic little town. After a hot and humid afternoon through the French countryside we arrived at our hotel on the Neckar river. The lady at the hotel served us homemade lemonade and told us the history of this 18th century home. It used to be where the students dueled with swords. Mark Twain stayed here for 3 months and even wrote about it. The room was gorgeous with a canopy bed, antiques galore from China, hence the name of the room..the Peking Suite. Best was the tub with jacuzzi tubs for our sore bodies. We changed and quickly walked to the old town and found the marketplace where we sat and people watched. I’ve observed that the Germans live off of hot dogs, pretzels and espresso. We had all of the above. Then a little shopping as we did not pack cool enough clothes and were living in dirty undergarments to be honest. We saw the heidelberg castle and took pictures. I love this town of sausage and strudel no wonder why it survived so many years of wars.
