    Day 3 California Coast

I woke up to a foggy morning. It’s always better to ride the coast in the afternoon after the fog burns off. It’s only 200 miles to San Francisco from Ragged point Inn yet it takes 5 hours due to the windy and twisty highway 1. Not to mention a few construction sites. Unfortunately for our ride it was all foggy until Carmel. We stopped at the big sur market for an egg burrito. It’s a tradition to go down to the creek and sit in the chairs right in the water and meditate. Next stop was the Starbucks in Carmel and got gas. I’m writing this one hour out…

    Hotel Union Square Review

We made it to our hotel. I had to go ask the front desk where to park the Harley. We ended up parking in a public parking structure a block away for $42.00 a night. I told you San Francisco was pricey. I’m all hot and tired so a cool shower and nap. Then here we come the mean streets of San Francisco. HOTEL UNION SQUARE – SAN FRANCISCO’S FIRST BOUTIQUE HOTEL

    Ragged Point Inn

We have always wanted to stay at this Inn. Its really the last place to stay before Big Sur. We got an ocean view room for $300. Quaint little room with a fake fireplace…I guess I’m paying for the priceless view. We at dinner at the restaurant on the premises. There’s also a mini mart, gift shop and coffee bar in the compound. The best part is the little walk along the cliffs above the ocean.

    Morro bay lunch

After 4 stops including 2 gas stations, a rest stop and a stop to take a business phone call we arrived at Morro Bay for lunch. We ate at Harbor Hut all the way at the end by the famous rock. An order of fish and chips with clammy thick chowder filled us up for under $20.00. Now we ride through Cambria, San Simeone, Hearst Castle and the elephant seals.
