HOLLYWOOD BOWL
The Who in Concert at the Hollywood Bowl with Friends. If you have never been to the Hollywood Bowl in the Hollywood Hills it is truly an experience you should not miss. They have all sorts of concerts there and it is a tradition to pack a picnic basket and have dinner there before the show. Now they have lots of places to buy dinner and you can even order picnic baskets the day before to pick up. I highly recommend you find a concert, symphony, broadway musical that you like and spend the money on the least expensive seats. We just move up as this outdoor venue is so huge. The feeling of being in high school again and just dancing away to The Who was truly a freeing experience. We rode the Harley with another couple from our home in Palm Desert to the Hollywood Bowl via the 10 Freeway West. We left at 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon, however, due to traffic from construction on the 60 Freeway we ended up in a lot of traffic and went exploring off the freeway to avoid the traffic when it was not moving. Although it is legal in California to split lanes my husband doesn’t like to do so with such a big bike and his precious cargo (me) on the back. I have no problem with this rule as otherwise, I get a little nervous and uptight splitting with so little space in between the cars. We arrived at the Hollywood Bowl around 6 pm in time to grab a pizza and soda for dinner. I failed to plan ahead and order a picnic basket this time. The beautiful amphitheater that holds 18,000 people and is in the middle of a forest. As for the actual concert The Who was amazing with Pete and Rodger still doing their stuff at 74 years young! I want to be like that when I grow up! They played a lot of Tommy songs, Substitute and Who Are You were among my favorites. The Hollywood Bowl has a curfew due to the neighbors complaining of the noise of 10:30 pm on Sunday nights. I want to also give a shout out to Oasis who was the opening act and they kicked it out of the park. It was a beautiful night of friends, riding, music, dancing all outdoors. I love living in Southern California.
